The island is made up of 2 active and very large volcanos, with little towns situated around the edge of each volcano, so the ferry ride was lovely and picturesque.
In true Central American fashion, the boat was due to leave at 2pm and we still hadn't even boarded the boat by this time. When we finally did get on and think we were leaving, this giant truck of concrete slabs arrived and had to be loaded onto the ferry one by one by hand! It was soooo slow and painful to watch but pretty funny that there is literally no concept of time over here...
